Jeg reisse til Norge!

Oslo! Everyone should know just by looking at me that I am Scandinavian. I have enjoyed my Norwegian heritage all my life, from lefse making every winter with my dad and sometimes my aunt, to hearing my mom say "uff-da".

I found pretty cheap tickets to Oslo and decided now was the time to go meet the motherland!

I left very early on Friday morning to get a bus to take me to the airport. Ryanair flies out of Beauvais, which is about an hour out of Paris. I got to the airport, got through security and was soon boarding the plane.

Ryanair is kind of like a casino in the sky. They try to sell you stuff throughout the flight, like scratch cards and smokeless cigarettes. I passed, and focused on looking obsessively out the window/sometimes doing my homework.

We dipped down below the clouds, finally, and I saw home!

We landed, and I was very excited to be there!

After stopping inside to get some Norwegian Krone and some lovely Norwegian junk food for the long ride, I boarded the bus for Oslo. I actually flew in at Torp (about 150km away from the city). I was okay with the ride though, because that meant I would see more of the country and that I would have time to do some of my homework.

I saw tons of pretty things, despite the gray rainy weather, including this little white church!

As we got closer and closer to Oslo, we started seeing fjords. Also--snow!!!!! Sorry the picture is blurry, but the bus was going too fast.

We got into the city center around 3pm. I was so excited! I saw the Opera House first:

After leaving the Central Station (Oslo S) I walked up a street called Karl Johan's Gate. It's the main road of the city. Parliament is there:

Along with the national theater:

And at the end is the Palace!

A few streets over by the harbor is the Nobel Peace Prize Museum

And City Hall:

The darkness shouldn't fool you. It got dark in Oslo at about 4:30pm. Pretty disconcerting! I only lasted walking around for a few hours, but then had to get to bed. I needed to wake up early to see Oslo properly!
